Can my child stay seated in the chair on a school bus or public transit?

That depends on the model. The Dyno, Reach, and Enzo are WC19 crash tested. The Trak is not currently listed as crash tested, so we don't claim it for transit seating. If riding while seated is something your child needs, say so early — before the order is placed. Your dealer can confirm that the exact build you're getting is the crash-tested configuration.

What does WC19 actually mean?

WC19 is the industry safety standard for a wheelchair or stroller that will be used as a seat in a moving vehicle. Equipment that meets it has been crash tested and has designated points where the vehicle's tie-downs attach. The Enzo, for example, has transit tie-down points at both the front and the rear. The certification only does its job if the chair is secured correctly every time. Ask your dealer to show you the securement points at the fitting, and to go through them with whoever drives your child.

Is the Trak crash tested?

No. The Trak is not currently listed as WC19 crash tested. We would rather tell you that plainly than let you find out later. If your child needs to ride while seated in the chair, ask about the Dyno, Reach, or Enzo instead — all three are WC19 crash tested.

Is there a crash-tested option that isn't a wheelchair?

Yes. The Dyno is a three-wheel activity stroller and it is WC19 crash tested — the only three-wheel activity stroller on the market that is. The Reach, a tilt-in-space stroller, is WC19 crash tested across all three of its frame sizes.

Can we try a Leggero before we buy one?

How much does a Leggero cost?

We don't publish prices. What a chair costs depends on the model, the size, the seating system, and which accessories your child needs — and on what your funding source covers. Because Leggero sells only through dealers, the quote comes from your dealer rather than from us. You can build a configuration on this site and send it in as a quote request if you'd like something concrete to start from.

Can I buy directly from Leggero?

No. Leggero sells exclusively through a dealer network. That isn't paperwork for its own sake. Your dealer measures your child, submits the funding paperwork to your insurer, fits the chair when it arrives, and is who you call when something needs adjusting. None of that works well at a distance.

Where are the chairs made?

In Burnet, Texas. Every chair is built to order, so nothing ships off a shelf — it's assembled to the configuration on your order. Leggero is part of Altimate Medical.

Question 10

Will insurance cover it?

Accepted Answer

It depends on your plan and your state. Coverage for pediatric mobility equipment varies a great deal, and we can't tell you in advance what yours will do. What we can tell you is how the process runs. Your clinical team documents why your child needs this specific equipment, and your dealer submits that to your payer and works with them from there. Leggero does not bill insurers directly.

What does the funding process look like from start to finish?

In broad strokes: an evaluation with a PT, OT, or ATP; a letter of medical necessity from your clinician; a submission from your dealer to your payer; a decision; then we build the chair to order and your dealer fits it. What is a letter of medical necessity?

It's the document that explains why your child needs this specific equipment rather than a cheaper or more general alternative. Your clinician writes it. Your dealer can tell you what your particular payer expects that letter to cover, since it varies between plans.

Is there a billing code for this equipment?

Accepted Answer

The one code we can confirm here is K0108, which applies to the EPiC Seating system included with the Enzo. For everything else, your dealer confirms the codes that apply to your configuration. We don't publish a code list, because the right codes depend on what is actually on the order.

Question 14

How long does the whole thing take?

Accepted Answer

We can't give you a number, and we'd rather not guess at one. Approval times are set by your payer, not by us, and build time depends on the configuration. Your dealer is the one who can tell you where your order actually stands, because they're the one talking to the payer.

How long is the warranty?

Five years on the base and frame, and one year on seating components. Warranty service is handled by Leggero directly, not a third party. The number is +1 (512) 756-4700.

Something broke. What do I do?

Call us at +1 (512) 756-4700, or email sales@leggero.us. Warranty service comes back to Leggero directly rather than to an outside repair contractor. It helps to have the model name ready and a photo of the part if you can take one. Your dealer can help too — they can put hands on the chair, which we can't do over the phone. If the chair isn't safe to use, stop using it until someone has looked at it.

How do I get a replacement part or add an accessory later?

Go through your dealer, or contact us at sales@leggero.us or +1 (512) 756-4700. Because every chair is built to order, tell us the model and the configuration it was built with so the part that arrives is the one that fits.

Who adjusts the chair as my child grows?

Accepted Answer

Start with your dealer. They fitted the chair, and they can re-measure your child and adjust it. If a growth adjustment needs a different part, they'll order it. Warranty repairs come back to Leggero directly at +1 (512) 756-4700.

Are the chairs customizable?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Every chair is built to order. Depending on the model, that can cover seat width and depth, tilt and recline, frame color, the seating system, and accessories such as headrests, harnesses, sunshades, trays, and oxygen holders. You don't have to work the options out on your own. Your dealer and clinician choose the configuration together, from measurements taken off your child.

Will it still fit next year?

Every model is built to adjust, but by different amounts. The Reach has 5" of seat depth adjustment and 4" of width adjustment, and comes in three sizes (12", 14", and 16"). The Enzo adjusts from 11 to 20" of seat depth and 12 to 18" of width. The Trak comes in 12" and 14" seat widths. The Dyno's seat depth adjusts from 6" to 14". How much growth you get out of one chair depends heavily on the size you start in — which is one of the things your clinical team weighs at the evaluation.

How much weight can each chair hold?

Dyno: 80 lb. Trak: 80 lb. Enzo: 185 lb. The Reach depends on the size — 80 lb in the 12", 110 lb in the 14", and 150 lb in the 16".

That decision gets made with your clinical team rather than from a website. A PT, OT, or ATP measures your child and works out what the chair actually has to do — at home, at school, and getting in and out of the vehicle.
